The Gairdner Foundation was created in 1957 by Mr. James Arthur Gairdner, to recognize and reward the achievements of medical researchers whose work contributes significantly to improving the quality of human life. The
purpose of these awards is the recognition of individuals whose work
or contribution constitutes tangible achievement in the field of medical
